How Offices Can Go Green While Raising Employee Morale
Improving your green credentials in the office can be an excellent way to reduce your environmental impact. However, there are far more benefits to going green than this, and one of them is that you can improve employee morale at the same time.
Are you keen to boost employee morale at the same time as running a more environmentally friendly office? Here are a few ways to get started.
Fill the Office with Plants
Making sure that your office has lots of plants inside will lead to a healthier and more pleasant work environment for all of your staff. Plants improve the atmosphere and reduce the amount of toxins in the air, and they also simply look more pleasant. So add a bit of life to your office in a cost-effective, healthy and morale-boosting way.
Start Up a Paper Recycling Scheme
Most offices get through a lot of paper during the working week, so set up a paper recycling scheme. Your staff will know that the paper that they are using is not being wasted but will be recycled instead, and this can help to make them feel better about all of the paper that they are using.
Go On the Hunt for Reused Office Equipment
When you need to buy some new equipment for your office, try to get your staff involved in finding something second-hand. They can ask their friends and family or go searching online to find a bargain, and then you can provide rewards for the employees who come up with the best items.
Discourage Driving to Work
If lots of your employees travel to the office by car, try to discourage this as much as possible. This could involve providing safe and secure areas where they can store their bikes, or even providing them with free bus or Underground passes that will be greatly appreciated.
Launch a Recycling Competition
To make recycling even easier for your employees, start up a recycling scheme at work where they can dispose of their plastic bottles and other junk rather than having to dispose of their items in their free time. You could even turn it into a competition with prizes for the employees who recycle the most items in a month.
Save Money for Staff Treats
More often than not, going green can help you to save money in the office. For example, you could save on electricity costs by installing energy-efficient lightbulbs and from purchasing reused furniture rather than brand new items. You can then use the money that you save throughout the year to treat your employees to a special day out or a nice meal, helping to boost morale even further.
Find New Homes for Old Office Equipment
If you have old office equipment and furniture to get rid of, try to encourage your staff to find new homes for it rather than discarding it. If you have to clear out a larger quantity of equipment then you may want to use a removals company with strong green credentials like Any Junk, but if there are just a few items then try to get your staff involved in helping to source new homes for the items.
Boost Morale at Work
As well as being good for the environment, going green can help to boost morale in the office at the same time. Consider a few of the above ideas for your office and start taking advantage of going green at work today.
